Frequently asked Questions

I have less than 10 guests. Can I still book your services? 

​Certainly! While we do not have a minimum guest count, there is a minimum order value, which will vary for each activity.

If you'd like to craft connection without the order minimum, consider grabbing tickets to one of our public events!

What is your maximum guest count?

​

For our standard sit-down workshops, we are currently able to accommodate 60 people or more (our inventory is constantly growing). For larger parties, conferences, etc, we are able to create custom activity stations to provide a shorter (5-20 minute) experience in order to accomodate hundreds of guests. For parties larger than 60 guests, Schedule a consultation to begin crafting an offering with us

Do you have a physical location? â€‹

Not at this time. We are a completely mobile service based in New Orleans, LA and will travel to bring creativity directly to a location of your choice! If you are looking for a space to host a workshop with us, please let us know in the consultation, and we can work with you to secure space with one of our venue partners for an additional cost. 

Are your workshops kid-friendly?​

​

Some are more suited for children than others. While our workshops and offerings are designed with adults in mind, we have worked with past clients on family and "Bring your kid to work" days in the office.

 

If you do plan on including children at your event, please communicate that to our team ahead of time so that we can ensure your activities are kid-safe. We'll be sure to avoid activities that involve sharp tools, small parts, etc. Any children under the age of 15 must be accompainied by thier parent or guardian at all times.

Can I attend your public events or book a workshop if I am not LGBTQ?​

Absolutely!

 

Hot Stuff Studios is a queer-owned business and we work to create Queer-inclusive spaces. You do not have to be LGBTQ to hire or value the work we do. In fact, your patronage ensures that we can continue this important work. We prioritize the safety of our staff and guests, and proudly maintain no-tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind.

 

Any guests that engage in homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, or ableist behavior will be asked to leave immediately with no refund given.  

What is the meaning behind your name, Hot Stuff Studios?​

​

When our Co-Founder, Dru, started their jewelry line called You Are Hot Stuff in 2019, the name was a call back to and reclamation of misogynistic cat-calls (while also honoring their Louisiana upbringing + love of spicy food).

 

The ethos of the their jewelry line, You Are Hot Stuff, and today's mobile workshop service Hot Stuff Studios, is the same: you are not "hot" because of you looks or appearance. You are "hot" when you embrace who you are and build a life around the things you enjoy.

 

Every Hot Stuff Studios workshop centers around the individual experience - we don't encourage people to replicate the instructors or each other, but to create personalized art around hobbies, interests, and more. 

How much do your services cost?​

​

Our private workshops range in price starting at $30 per person, with a minimum order equal to 10 guests.

We occasionally host public ticketed events to spotlight local venues and create engagement among diverse communities.

 

Sometimes we give back by offering workshops at a low or sliding scale rates. Prices will vary for each public event depending on the workshop type, cost to produce, etc.

What's the difference between a public and private workshop?​

​

Great question!

 

Private workshops- are services that are booked by a client at their desired time and date for their group. The guest list and venue details are also completely up to you. We do not advertise the dates and times of your workshop, but may share some photos or videos after the fact. 

​

Public workshops- are ticketed or free events organized by or in partnership with the Hot Stuff Studios where anyone is welcome to purchase a ticket to attend. Hot Stuff Studios advertises these events on our events page, social media, newsletter, and more to invite local community to join us.

You are welcome to hire Hot Stuff Studios to offer a workshop at your public event and include the workshop with your ticket (like a conference, convention, etc). We're happy to cross promote any public event we're invited to participate in.

How do I book Hot Stuff Studios for a workshop or service?​

​

Start by going to our services page. Select your desired activity and fill out the request form. A member from the team will review your request and respond within 24 hours. We'll then send you a link to schedule a quick consultation call, invoice, and contract to secure your booking.

​

If you're not sure which activity to choose (they're all great) or would like to work with us to build out a custom craft offering, schedule a consultation call with us to get started! 

What area do you serve? How far do you travel?​

​

We currently serve the Greater New Orleans area. Travel within 30 miles of New Orleans is included in the standard workshop pricing.

 

Any travel outside of the 30-mile radius of New Orleans will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will include an additional travel fee. If your request requires travel more than 60 miles, we'd love to talk to you about it! please start by scheduling a consultation call.

Can you customize a workshop (or workshops) for my event? â€‹

Of course! We regularly work with clients to create art experiences that adhere to specific timing, budget, guests, or branding.

How long are your workshops?​

​

Workshops are typically 2 hours in length. Some workshops, like custom-stamped cards/shirts/aprons and polymer clay jewelry making are 3 hours in length by default. The designated workshop length is named for each listing on our services page, but the timing can be customized by request. 

​

Please note that workshop times do not include setup or breakdown of each activity. Clients should account for at least 30-45 minutes before and after a scheduled workshop's start time and end times. If early access to your space is not available, please communicate this during your consultation.
